Deep, deep down in my heart
I know everything
about the great lake.
With eyes closed I see it
before me, projected
inside my eyelids.
Far, far away from its shores
I listen night after night
to the voice of its waves.
I can taste its cool clear water
on the tip of my tongue
in the midst of the desert
where I’m creepcrawling
towards home.
The fragrance of its
windswept soul
seeps into my nostrils
in the centre of the city
where i live with my
everyday chores.
Deep deep down in my heart,
steeped in my lifely fall,
the great lake makes me
touch the meaninglessly
wondrous meaning of it all.
Thank you, lake.
